Often people ask me about how my working
relationship came about with Cleobella, and to be honest its rather a beautiful
one so here it is…
In 2006 I was travelling Europe with my long
haired surf chasing boyfriend Mic (years later to be husband).
In the most unlikely of places, a tiny surf
town in Portugal, with literally nothing for a girl to do, and feeling stranded
(of course, the waves were good). I met my Soul Sister….
Southern Californian babes Jim & Angela
were camping in the same place as us, and in a town with very little English
being spoken, it didn’t take long to find each other.
The boys were happy to have a mate to surf
with and Ange and I bonded on the beach. We talked about it all, fashion,
travel, family.
We convinced Mic’s sister and her boyfriend
who where also traveling to come meet us and we all piled into the Yankees VW
camper van. Yes 6 in the 5 seater van with 8 surfboards and I’m not sure how we
all squeezed in.
It was well into a month on our travels
together that Jim jumped out of the van in his brothers OBRIEN Soccer
jersey. It was then that the penny dropped with the BOMB that we were
actually traveling with the same last name – crazytown.
This just cemented our friendship…We MUST
have known each other in another life – surely – most definitely – 100%.
Basically the rest is history. From one
chance meeting on a rural beach in Portugal, a friendship that makes both our
lives all the richer was born. I distinctly remember Ange talking about this
idea of creating a line of handbags that were inspired from the places she
travelled…
7 years later, and we are more in each other’s
lives than ever before. Who ever said living on opposite sides of the globe was
a hurdle for friendship?
Not when you’re Soul Sisters.
Bali, California, Sydney, wherever it may be,
when we are together – now toting our toddler sons and long haired husbands,
the days are always brighter.
I am so honoured that Ange values me, my
style and opinions so greatly that she fly’s me to the US at least twice
annually to not only to the hair and makeup but also Creatively Direct, and
Produce for her major campaigns. She is one rather incredibly talented girl,
I’m lucky enough to call a best friend.
I’m in love with our traveling gypsy friendship and
am truly blown away that it is our story that sits behind her premiere
ready-to-wear collection.
